A place to think
Why public spaces for reading and reflection still matter.
By Daniel Okafor·September 30, 2026·5 min read

A library can be many things at once: a quiet room, a public promise, a place to arrive without having to purchase anything.
In cities that seem to ask us to move ever faster, places for unhurried thought are quietly radical. Their architecture makes a case for shared attention.

“A library is a public promise.”
