A photograph asks us to pause.
It interrupts the ordinary pace of looking and gives a fleeting moment a different kind of duration.
The images we return to most often do not give everything away. They leave room for uncertainty, for tenderness, for interpretations that change over time.
Perhaps that is their quiet power: they remind us that attention can be an act of care.
