Forms for a new generation

How an emerging ceramicist is making fragile materials feel monumental.

In a studio flooded with northern light, sculptor Sofia Hart turns paper-thin porcelain into vessels with the scale of architecture. The work appears delicate until you stand beside it and notice its quietly assured presence.

Hart speaks of learning to trust the material rather than forcing it into submission. Each form bends slightly differently. Its imperfections are evidence of the hand, not errors to hide.

The result is an invitation to reconsider strength itself: not as resistance to change, but as the capacity to remain open to it.

“Fragility can have a monumental presence.”
